Cockayne syndrome

Background

This syndrome was described in 1936. In its classical form it presents with premature ageing and neurological deterioration.

The age of the onset of symptoms and the progression of the disease is variable. The early onset cases overlap with COFS (Cerebro-Oculo-Facio-Skeletal) syndrome.
