Congenital Talipes Equinovarus

Background

Congenital refers to a condition that is present at birth. Talipes refers to an abnormality of the ankle and foot. Equinovarus refers to the position of the foot, pointing downwards and inwards. One or both feet may be affected. It is commonly called clubfoot and can be recognized in the infant by examination. The foot is turned inwards, is stiff and cannot be brought to a normal position.
