Dyslexia

Background

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty primarily affecting reading, writing, spelling and sometimes mathematics (see entry, Dyscalculia). It occurs at all levels of intellectual ability, but is harder to detect where there are other problems in learning. For the child who is otherwise quite capable, the frustrations of difficulties expressing themselves in writing and understanding printed words can be a source of stress and may sometimes lead to behavioural difficulties.
