Growth Hormone Deficiency

Background

Growth hormone, along with several other hormones controlling growth and general well being, is secreted from the pituitary gland in the base of the brain.

Growth hormone deficiency may occur in isolation or combined with other hormone deficiencies. Growth hormone deficiency may occur spontaneously at a frequency of approximately 1 in 5,000 children and is more common in boys than in girls.
