Haemolytic Uraemic syndromes: Hemolytic Uremic syndromes - US

The Haemolytic Uraemic syndromes are a group of disorders which occur throughout the world and are the commonest cause of acute kidney failure in children in North America and Western Europe. They are characterised by a haemolytic anaemia, a low platelet count and kidney failure. The most common form occurs in children and is associated with a diarrhoeal illness. This form of Haemolytic Uraemic syndrome has been termed D+HUS.
