Landau-Kleffner syndrome

Background

Landau-Kleffner Syndrome (LKS) is a rare type of childhood epilepsy, in which children develop normally for at least the first two to three years and then show loss of skills, particularly of language (acquired aphasia) which is usually gradual, but may fluctuate and include sudden loss of language following a seizure.
