Moya Moya disease: MMD; Moya Moya syndrome; Moyamoya disease

This condition was first described by Takeuchi and Shimizu in 1957. Moya Moya is Japanese for a puff or cloud of smoke and refers to the characteristic appearance of the diagnostic angiogram for the condition.
