Polycystic Kidney disease

Background

The kidneys (see entry, Kidney disease) are the body’s blood filter system. They act as specialised organs that filter and purify the blood, ridding the body of excess water, salts and waste products. The filtered fluid is processed as it passes down through thin long tubes called the tubules, leaving only the excess water and waste to be eliminated from the body via the bladder, as urine.
