Stiff Man syndrome

Background

Stiff Man syndrome (SMS) is a rare, autoimmune, neurological disease which affects approximately 1 in 200,000 individuals - both males and females. The immune system protects the body from disease; whereas the autoimmune system functions to destroy part of the body in conditions such as SMS.
