Pounds for Parents is the name of our three year campaign to improve take up of benefits and other forms of financial support for families with disabled children.
It costs three times as much to raise a disabled child and many parents struggle to hold down a job due to the emotional, practical and physical pressures of being a carer. Despite more than half of families living in, or at the margins of poverty, families are not claiming the benefits and tax credits available to them.
We want families to be aware of their benefits entitlements and claim what they are owed.
We want to raise awareness of the financial difficulties experienced by families of disabled children and the extra costs of raising a disabled child.
Talk in the media about the additional costs of raising a disabled child and help people to understand what life is like for families of disabled children.
