We recognise that parent support groups are a key source of information and support for families that have a child with a disability or additional needs. As part of the SEND Information project, we will be offering support to parent support groups around their role of ‘information provider’ to the families they help.
This SEND Information project will offer parent support groups:
Contact a Family has over 30 years experience of working with families with disabled children – last year we helped over 340,000 families. We are the only UK wide charity providing advice, information and support to the parents of disabled children, no matter what their condition or disability. We have worked closely with national condition specific support groups and local support groups for many years offering dedicated support to help them develop their service.
As part of this project we will also be working with Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) to support them in their role as information providers to families with children with SEN. Sign up now to receive our new free quarterly e-newsletter - find out about new resources and SENCO good practice across England
