Contact a Family is committed to helping parents work with professionals to improve the local services (health, education and social care) their children need.
Over the last ten years we have supported the development of Parent Participation and Parent Carer Forums across England. Professionals are increasingly involving parents in shaping children’s services because they recognise it benefits everyone and can lead to a better use of time and money.
If you would like to get in touch with your local parent forum their contact details are available here .
Through our work we have supported the development of regional networks of parent carer forums across England so parent forums are able to meet with each other to share experiences and good practice. These meetings inform parent forums which helps them when working with professionals to improve services in their own local area.
The regional networks feed into the National Parent Carer Forum Network, providing a united and powerful voice of parents of disabled children. Check www.nnpcf.org.uk for more details.
If you want to know more about out work supporting parent participation please contact Sheila.Davies@cafamily.org.uk.
