A speech and language therapist has developed a new website for professionals working with children with complex speech, language and communication needs.
The website allows professionals to use ‘video profiling’ as a way to securely share information about children. Videos of children's skills and achievements are collected and compiled into a video profile. The video profile can be accessed by people working with that child to celebrate achievements, monitor progress and make decisions about intervention.
The website has currently been piloting in Redbridge, North East London. The site enables members to share information with each other and provide extra support to teaching staff and parents, for example through demonstrations of how to do particular exercises and activities with the child. The website is child centred and professionals can log-in to a specific child’s Video Profile and share information about a child. For example, if a child has a diagnosis of Autism a Speech and Language Therapist may take videos and upload these videos to demonstrate the strategies and activities that the child is working on.
