Information, advice and support
We offer information, advice and support to parents and carers of children with any special need or disability as well as professionals working with families.
Newsletter
Contact a Family Sutton & Merton produces a quarterly newsletter. It offers information on sources of local support, events, topics of interest to families such as benefits, holidays and national organisations. Workshops and conferences
We organise workshops for parents. These are an opportunity for parents to come together, boost their confidence and share their experiences. Previous topics have included the needs of siblings, transition, managing stress and challenging behaviour.
Influencing services
We attend meetings at a strategic level in each borough to help influence services for families and to ensure that the needs of parents, carers and children with special needs are represented.
SENDSutton - website for carers in Sutton
SENDSutton contains information for parents and carers of children and young people with any disability, special educational need or long-term health need. It brings together a wide range of information about services and entitlements in Sutton that will be of benefit to local families.
The site has been developed by Contact a Family in partnership with parents and members of Sutton Disability Partnership and representatives of the London Borough of Sutton.
SENDSutton has been written to be parent-friendly and to answer the main questions parents have. It will also be of use to professionals working with families in Sutton.
Debt advice in London
Contact a Family has entered into a pilot project with Citizens Advice Bureau to improve the supply of face to face debt advice to families with disabled children. The Greater London area is one of the pilot areas in which the new service has started. There are seven workers based in Camden CAB who offer advice and help for families with disabled children anywhere in the Greater London area. They will arrange to visit you at home anywhere in London.
