How we can help

Information and advice
We offer information and advice to parents and carers of children with any special need or disability as well as professionals working with families, including a drop-in and phone service providing help with benefits, grants and any other issues.

Newsletter
Contact a Family Wandsworth produces a quarterly newsletter. It offers information on sources of local support, events, topics of interest to families such as benefits, holidays and national organisations. The newsletter is available to free to members.

Support groups
There are opportunities to meet up with other parents in each of the localities - do get in touch with the relevant worker either by email or phone for more information

There is a monthly network group which meets at the Early Years Centre. We also have a termly group for people whose children attend residential settings. There is also an ADHD support group - please call the office for more details of when these groups will be running. We are able to offer individual advice on the phone or at the office - please call to book an appointment with our family worker who will be able to offer some support and signpost you to other appropriate agencies.

Workshops
We run workshops on a variety of topics such as Challenging Behaviour, Transition and Siblings.

Family outings
We run fun events throughout the year, including summer trips and days out, summer fun mornings, Easter outings, and an annual Christmas party. We can provide volunteer support on these trips if needed.

Membership

To become a member you can contact us directly or ask a professional, friend or family member to get in touch with us on your behalf.

We will arrange a time to discuss your family's needs and identify the best ways of supporting you.

Volunteer opportunities

Contact a Family Wandsworth provides volunteering opportunities to work with our families or to gain charity administration experience. Please contact us for an application form.

Fundraising

Wandsworth Contact a Family is core funded by Wandsworth Borough Council but we rely heavily on donations and sponsorship from individuals, grant-giving organisations and companies. If you would like to help our project by making a donation, taking part in a fundraising event, or sponsoring specific activities we would be pleased to hear from you.

Debt advice in London

Contact a Family has entered into a pilot project with Citizens Advice Bureau to improve the supply of face to face debt advice to families with disabled children. The Greater London area is one of the pilot areas in which the new service has started. There are seven workers based in Camden CAB who offer advice and help for families with disabled children anywhere in the Greater London area. They will arrange to visit you at home anywhere in London. If you would like to make an appointment, please call the Contact a Family helpline on Tel: 0808 808 3555 and we will arrange an appointment for you.
