Family Support Service
Our family workers offer parents one-to-one help and support through times of need.

Our freephone helpline can give you information, support and advice.Our advisers can help with:
- benefits or tax credits issues
- assessments and statements of special educational needs
- details of local parents support groups
- information about your child's condition
- how to access help with getting a break from caring
- details of charities which give grants to families with disabled children
- advice and information on any other aspect of caring for a disabled child
- the helpline has a registered immigration adviser who can give basic advice in immigration matters.
We also have access to over 170 languages through our interpreting service.
How we can help
Information, advice and support
We offer a wide range of information, advice and support to parents and carers of children with any special need or disability as well as professionals working with families.
Workshops and seminars
Dependent on funding available we can organise workshops and seminars for parents and carers (which professionals can sometimes attend)
These are an opportunity for parents to come together and share their experiences. Previous topics have included the needs of siblings, transition and bullying.
Newsletter
'In Contact' is Contact a Family Northern Ireland's regional newsletter. It offers information on sources of local support, events, topics of interest to families such as benefits, holidays and national organisations. The newsletter is available to both parents and professionals free of charge. We can provide training to professionals and groups on issues that affect families of children with special needs.
