Volunteers - Recruitment opportunities
Volunteer Parent Representatives
We have a team of 40 volunteer Volunteer Parent Representatives around the UK. All are parents of disabled children, representing Contact a Family in their local areas. Their role is to gather information on local sources of support for families, to provide useful local information to parents and professionals and to publicise the kind of help that Contact a Family can provide - for example, managing a stand at an information day or local parents' event. Most reps also end up joining a local planning group or forum and raising concerns for families.
To enable you to do this, we provide all out of pocket expenses, a separate phone line at your home, display boards, posters, leaflets and publications for you to give out and your own business cards to give you the status you deserve! We provide opportunities for you to meet at twice-yearly residential meetings and have some training, share ideas and have a night out together without the family!
We currently have funding from Big Lottery to recruit volunteer Volunteer Parent Representatuves in:
- Cambridgeshire
- North Yorkshire
If you have an interest in any of the above Volunteer positions, please contact Karen McLean, Head of Service Development (England), at Contact a Family for an information pack or an informal chat on Tel: 020 7608 8778 or e-mail: karen.mclean@cafamily.org.uk
