The Association is a Registered Charity in England and Wales No. 249338, established in 1966 (formerly known as ASBAH). It offers advice and information to individuals with hydrocephalus and/or spina bifida and their families or carers. It has a network of support & development workers covering most parts of the country; membership and information are available.

The Association is a Registered Charity in Scotland No. SC013328, established in 1965. It offers a support service throughout Scotland from a purpose-built family centre, providing information, support and advice to all users with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. This support is also available to families, carers and allied professionals. Home and hospital visits can also be arranged. It publishes a magazine twice a year and has a wide range of information leaflets. The Association has over 3,000 users.
