Congenital Muscular Dystrophy

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms include floppiness, poor head control, muscle weakness and contractures (tightness) in the limbs although these symptoms are not specific to congenital muscular dystrophy.

Most of the cases affected by Congenital Muscular Dystrophy only have weakness of the muscles; in some instances learning difficulties, epilepsy and abnormality of the eye can be present. In these latter cases, the learning difficulties may be subtle, moderate or severe but are not progressive.
