The Trust is a national registered charity No. 1079049, established in 1964. It offers support and information to anyone affected by Cystic Fibrosis. It funds research, offers some financial support to families and campaigns for improved services. It publishes CF Today, CF Talk (for adults with CF) and Focus on Fundraising, distributed free of charge, and has a wide range of information available, including publications and consensus documents on Cystic Fibrosis. The Trust offers emotional and practical support to people with Cystic Fibrosis including supporting statements on a range of issues, help to obtain benefits and grants, and advocacy and representation at Disability Appeals Tribunals. They also offer transport to hospital appointments and a youth befriending service. The Butterfly Trust's services are delivered by a national team of trained volunteer support workers. The Trust responds to the estimated 700 people in Scotland with Cystic Fibrosis.
