Dyslexia

Inheritance patterns and prenatal diagnosis

Inheritance patterns
Dyslexia is strongly heritable. Candidate genes have been identified on Chromosomes 6, 15 and 1 and the two genes associated with dyslexia have been identified. Dyslexia is more apparent in males than females, although genetic factors seem to increase the risk of difficulties equally for both sexes.

Prenatal diagnosis
None.
