The Society is a National Registered Charity No. 1062595, established in 1983. It offers contact between affected individuals through local self help groups and area contacts in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. It also runs 'Young Dystonia' a support group for young people and their families. It publishes a newsletter 3 times a year and a Young Dystonia newsletter. It has a wide range of information available, details on request. The Society has over 3,500 members who are mostly affected individuals.
