Frontotemporal Lobar degeneration including Frontotemporal Dementia

How is it treated?

There are currently no known curative treatments for FTLD. However, there are treatments for some of the symptoms such as concurrent depression or behavioural symptoms. Drugs used in Alzheimer's disease (the cholinesterase inhibitors such as donepezil) may worsen behavioural symptoms in some patients. A major international research effort is currently dedicated to understanding FTLD better and ultimately to develop new treatments.
