The Association is a National Registered Charity No. 270288 and is concerned with the welfare of individual kidney patients and their families. The organisation is closely associated with the major renal units throughout the UK. Where necessary, it offers financial support to cover the expenses incurred as the result of the kidney condition and the costs of hospital visiting. It has a wide range of information available, details on request. Membership is available to all renal patients throughout the UK.

The Federation is a National Registered Charity No. 1106735, established in 1978. It has over 70 member Associations and aims to present a national voice to Government on behalf of kidney patients. It offers practical help and contact through member groups located at regional hospitals. It attempts to help families deal with the stress of life-long care, promotes organ donation and campaigns for improved renal services. Patient Support services include a quarterly magazine 'Kidney Life', Patient Helpline, Advocacy Services, website, annual patients conference and a vast range of patient information leaflets available, details on request.

Kidney Research UK, formerly the National Kidney Research Fund, is National Registered Charity No. 252892, founded in 1961. Kidney Research UK is the leading UK charity funding research that focuses on the prevention, treatment and management of kidney disease. The charity also dedicates its work to improving patient care and raising awareness of kidney disease. The charity also runs Kidney Health Information, a service for those with an interest in kidney disease and related issues (kidney patients, their families and carers, as well as medical professionals and researchers).
