Liver disease

Genetic liver diseases

There are many liver diseases which may be passed from parents to their babies. Sometimes the parents actually have the condition; in other cases one or both may be carriers of the gene although well themselves.

Improved understanding of genetics has given great hope for the future for parents of children with inherited metabolic liver disorders. Advances in technology, therapy and treatment show great promise for gene therapy in the future.
