Nephrotic syndrome

What are the symptoms?

The main feature of the syndrome is oedema (swelling) of the tissues of the body. For example, fluid can build up in the abdomen and chest, can show around the eyes and can lead to weight gain. Fluid retention around the lungs can lead to breathlessness. The loss of protein can even cause malnutrition.
