Nephrotic syndrome

How is it diagnosised?

As the most common cause of water retention in adults is cardiac disease, this needs to be eliminated before considering Nephrotic syndrome as a diagnosis. The specific tests to diagnose Nephrotic syndrome include the measurement of the loss of protein in the urine and the levels of protein (albumin) in the blood. A biopsy (examination of a sample) of kidney tissue is likely to be necessary.
