Inheritance patterns
Congenital Nephrotic syndrome is autosomal recessive. Other forms of Nephrotic syndrome are not genetic.

Prenatal diagnosis
Congenital Nephrotic syndrome may be diagnosed prenatally by elevated levels of alpha-fetoprotein in amniotic fluid.
