Ohtahara syndrome

How is it treated?

There is no cure for Ohtahara syndrome; treatment is symptomatic. Control of the seizures is difficult and the balance of the advantages (extending the times between seizures) and disadvantages (sleepiness) of using such drugs as phenobarbitone has to be considered. Use of anticonvulsants will not halt the psychomotor development deterioration.
