The Society is a National Registered Charity No. 258197, established in 1969. It aims to achieve the conquest of Parkinson's disease, and the alleviation of the suffering and distress it causes, through effective research, education, welfare and communication. It offers support and advice for people with Parkinson's, their carers and families. It gives advice to health and social care professionals on models of good practice, including residential care and short breaks. It has a network of local Parkinson's Disease Society branches. It publishes a quarterly magazine and has a wide range of information available, details on request. The Society has around 28,000 members.

YPN is a branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society UK. It aims to support and represent the needs of younger people with Parkinson's disease who are likely to have different needs from older people. Support groups exist in many areas of the UK and there are around 510 members.
