The Fellowship is a National Registered Charity No. 1108335, established in 1939. It was the first organisation to be started by disabled people for disabled people. It offers support, including financial assistance, for affected persons, together with accessible holiday accommodation and advocacy on welfare benefits and post-polio syndrome. It has a national network of groups and branches. It publishes a newsletter 6 times a year. The Fellowship has approximately 8,000 members including a small number of affected children.
