I CAN is a National Registered Charity No. 210031, established in 1888. I CAN works to support the development of speech, language and communication skills in all children with a special focus on those who find this hard: children with a communication disability. I CAN works to ensure all people who have a responsibility to children, either directly or indirectly, from parents and teachers to policy makers, understand the importance of good communication skills. It does this through information, training, support, raising awareness, campaigning, consultancy and outreach services. They are also involved in direct service provision through two schools for children with severe complex disabilities, and a network of early years provision.
