The Society is a National Registered Charity No. 275107, established in 1976. The group covers thalassaemia major and thalassaemia trait. There are several other forms of thalassaemia. It offers advice and support for affected families together with counselling for carriers, affected individuals and families. It publishes a quarterly newsletter and has a wide range of information available, details on request. The Society has around 680 members.
