Toxocariasis

What are the symptoms?

The systemic form results in non-specific ill health and is probably frequently undiagnosed. Signs and symptoms may include fever, wheezy chest, abdominal pain, the source of which is unrecognised, or may be more severe, with hepatomegaly (enlargement of the liver), when toxocariasis may be diagnosed. Subclinical (not detectable by the usual clinical tests) toxocariasis is termed covert toxocariasis.
