Uveitis

How is it treated?

The aim of treatment is to completely control the inflammation on the lowest possible dosage of drugs, and to monitor and to treat any sight threatening complications such as raised intraocular pressure and macula oedema.

Treatment varies depending upon the severity of uveitis. For sight-threatening disease treatment it includes drugs taken orally, normally steroids, and sometimes with certain immunosuppressant drugs. Less severe uveitis may be controlled by steroid eye drops.
