Xeroderma Pigmentosum
What are the symptoms?
The condition leads to variable degrees of pigmentary change such as freckling, skin dryness, premature skin ageing and early skin cancers. The eyes can also be affected with photophobia, conjunctivitis and damage to the cornea and conjunctiva. Neurological abnormalities occur in some patients with learning disabilities, spasticity, poor co-ordination and deafness. XP patients may be of small stature and show developmental delay.
