Low-cost travel insurance for families of disabled children

Wednesday 24th October 2012

Families that have a child with a disability or complex medical condition can find it difficult to find low-cost travel insurance. For some families, this stops them going on a break at all.

But now, the Family Fund has teamed up with Holiday Direct Insurance to offer affordable holiday cover for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child aged up to 18 years old. They also offer travel insurance for families with a disabled or seriously ill young person aged from 18 to 23 years who is in full-time education at the time of travel. Advantages of the policy include automatic cover for all immediate family, including grandparents and carers, and no medical screening is required for existing medical conditions. Cover starts from just £22.49 per family, per trip. See the Family Fund's website for more details or go to Holiday Direct Insurance

Support groups for specific condition may also know of good insurers, so ask their members. Look up a support group for your child's condition in our Directory
