The Contact a Family freephone helpline is staffed by experienced advisers and is a one stop shop for parents and other family members caring for a disabled child.

How we can help

Our advisers can help with:

• benefits or tax credits issues
• assessments and statements of special educational needs
• details of local parents support groups
• information about your child's condition
• how to access help with getting a break from caring
• details of charities which give grants to families with disabled children
• advice and information on any other aspect of caring for a disabled child

Also, the helpline has three registered immigration advisers who can give basic advice in immigration matters.

Opening hours

The helpline is open Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm. It is also open on Monday evenings, 5.30-7.30pm.

Translations

The helpline has access to interpreters in over 100 languages.

Accreditation

The helpline is accredited by the Community Legal Service.

We are also Telephone Helpline Members (THA) and we have met the membership criteria for good practice on telephone helplines.
