Many parents find it helpful to make contact with other families who are in a similar situation to them.
Some conditions are very rare and there may be few people in the UK affected by them. As a consequence there may not yet be a support group available. This can be difficult for families who feel isolated, unsure about what the future holds for their child and eager to talk to others.
For families affected by a rare disorder we can offer to find a one-to-one link for families. It is unlikely that we will be aware of someone living close to you whose child has the same condition, however, we may be in touch with other families across the UK who we can link you with.
Once we receive your completed form we will then look for a match with others who have registered for the service.
Please note that this service may take some time. You may also find it helpful to register for our online linking service, Making Contact.
When linking with other families it is important to remember that people with a particular condition can be affected to different levels of severity and any medical information should always be shared with medical professionals to ensure it is appropriate for your child.
