Our family workers offer parents one-to-one help and support through times of need.
Our volunteer parent representatives are all parents of disabled children and offer peer support and local signposting.
Information, advice and support
We offer information, advice and support to parents and carers of children with any special need or disability as well as professionals working with families.
Workshops and conferences
We organise workshops and conferences for parents (which professionals can sometimes attend) based on local interest. These are an opportunity for parents to come together and share their experiences. Previous topics have included the needs of siblings, transition and negotiation skills.
Newsletter
Contact a Family West Midlands produces a quarterly newsletter. It offers information on sources of local support, events, topics of interest to families such as benefits, holidays and national organisations. Contact a Family has entered into a pilot project with Citizens Advice Bureau to improve the supply of face to face debt advice to families with disabled children. The Stoke on Trent area is one of the pilot areas in which the new service has started. It offers home visits for families anywhere in Stoke on Trent City Council, Staffordshire Moorlands Council and Newcastle under Lyme Council areas. If you are in financial difficulties, Contact a Family helpline can make an appointment for you. The debt worker can also give advice in Urdu.

There are two part time workers in Wolverhampton CAB who offer advice and help for families with disabled children anywhere in the Wolverhampton area.
